Tyrant Wing


... AKA Lookout Sirs!  I was mulling over the recent rage over the "lookout sir!" allocation rule and this list came to me.  I doubt it would consistently perform, but it would be fun and fast to play.  Oh yeah, double force org at 2,000pts.

Four tyrant deathstars with a total of 10 biomancy powers to draw from.  Lookout sir to the max for tyranids with 41 t6 wounds and a smattering of 2+ saves and regen which stacks with "It Will Not Die".  Reserve the gaunts and run across the field with 4 really annoying deathstars.  Here's a tip:  Put the ones with Iron Arm up front and kill off 2 guards.  Now you have a 2 model unit using the highest toughness value as majority (yeah, t9 2+ baby).

I predict 'Ardboyz will come back with a new format.  15 vendettas anyone?  I wonder how many GT's will allow the 2nd force org a year from now.

  1. Your first list seems to have 2 troops but 4 HQs ;)
    Looks nasty though! The new Biomancy is just too much fun!

    An interesting note, is that a unit of Tyrant guard CAN join a flyrant, who may then swoop, as long he goes 12" and stays in coherency. (imagine 3 Tyrant guard in a line, and he just flies back and forth from one end to the other.)
    I have no idea how one would shoot at this... on 6s or normal? Because that would be a beast Deathstar if it was 6s, and then you allocated the hits to the guard so the tyrant didnt fall!

    2. Looking at it RAW (I'm not sure if I'm allowed to quote the actual rules) I think that the unit would be hit on 6s! This is stupidly broken, but I must try it...
      I'm sure it'll be FAQd or that any TO would laugh at me.

  3. I think 1999 points will be the new tournament standard, I've already heard that the biggest tournament in my region will be just 1999. Double FOC feels wide open to abuse.
    If allies could be banned too, I'd be happy. Already sillyness like Necrons with scoring Nob Biker friends, are killing the flavour of the different armies.

  4. I agree 100% and went to great lengths to explain this in our local forum but met a lot of resistance from "purists" who think the game design is flawless and should be played as written across the board.

    I decided to give up and wait for them to learn first hand when someone sets up a wall of impassible terrain or brings necrons with scoring paladins, vect/eldrad, etc.
