GT Practice Begins!

I'm pretty excited about this week.  Tomorrow is our first local tournament to run 1850pts in many months, so I get to use my full GT list for the first time.  Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy the 1,000pt and 1,500pt events for the faster games and added rounds, but I'm really looking forward to playing with all the toys now.

On the hobby front, I was able to get everything airbrushed so the whole army has color on it now.

I crammed a lot in this week due to the looming tournament.  Here's my MSU dire avenger unit and artillery gunner.

I also base coated a second serpent to match my first.  Definitely easier the second time.  Thankfully, I'm only running two as something possessed me to paint every single stone on every single model which is driving me crazy.  The number of stones on the skimmers and wraithknight alone are enough to drive me nutty.

I also started a batch of cork bases; enough for my avengers, artillery crew, and wraithguard.  If I can get them airbrushed grey tonight I'll glue them down and have no primer or plastic showing for tomorrow's tournament.

In my non-tournament related "free time", I also made three terrain pieces for Calypso.

We made a small wager back in June over our Parkhammer game, which I lost.  As payment, he requested some desert pieces with purple crystals.  I used this as an opportunity to try some new foam cutting techniques to replicate sand dunes.

I made some small adjustments to my list for tomorrow since I'm still down a few dogs for my beast pack.  Here's what I'm running:

Eldar+Dark Eldar (1850pts)
Farseer + spirit stone of anath'lan
Spiritseer + shard of anaris
Baron Sathonyx
Wraithguard x5
Wave Serpent + holofields, ghostwalk matrix, scatter lasers
Dire Avengers x5
Wave Serpent + holofields, ghostwalk matrix, scatter lasers
Windrider Jetbikes x3 + cannon
Windrider Jetbikes x3 + cannon
Kabalite Warriors x5
Venom + extra cannon, grisly trophies
Beastmasters x4 + khymerae x12, razorwings x2
Wraithknight
War Walkers x3 + scatter lasers x6
Vaul's Wrath Support Battery x3 - shadow weavers

It's a mixed bag of some of the best Eldar units with a MSU feel.  Plus a respectable beast pack with potential for stealth, shrouded, fearless, hit-and-run, offensive, and defensive grenades.  Best case here would be fortune for 2+ cover and 4++ on the kymerae rerollable, but there's also other good options like invis, guide + prescience for the walkers and artillery, and rerolled psychic tests thanks to grisly trophies.

I'm pretty confident about the list.  I've been running portions of it over the past 3 months and I'm currently 10-1 since the new Eldar codex dropped.  There is a certain daemon player who's list really worries me for tomorrow though, and he's also been undefeated at the events he's been to ;-)  Along with myself, Calypso, and Grubnards attending the event tomorrow, we're expecting half a dozen players from Buffalo and a smattering of local regulars so it should be a great event.  I'll have my battle reports starting next week.

  1. I have been waiting all week for this tournament - it will be my first games in almost two months!

The army is turning out really well too - cannot wait to see it in person. You should feel confident about that list - it is nasty to he extreme an has so many ways to beat the other player.
