hyv3mynd @ DaBoyz GT ~ Game #1
Posted by
hyv3mynd
After much drinking and many shenanigans the evening following the team event, I went to bed reasonably early and mostly sober. This was my one big event of the year and I didn't want to compromise my grey matter for the GT. The picture above was the view from the main gaming hall on Saturday morning before round #1. One entire wall was floor-to-ceiling glass doors so half of the room had this view all weekend. A snowy view, a fire in the fireplace, hardwood floors, antler chandeliers overhead, it was quite the rustic venue. Also a note on pictures: You'll notice a bright white glare back-lighting the photos. There was actually a blizzard raging outside that dropped a couple inches of snow. All the big windows and a bright blizzard washed out these pics so apologies they weren't better.
* A note on my battle reports * I realize and accept that fact that not everyone designs optimized competitive lists. I realize not everyone plays a tactically perfect game. The main purpose of my reports is self reflection and improvement based on the situations at hand. Out of respect to my opponents, I prefer comments to be based on my own list or performance and avoid overly critical comments on my opponent. This will be a standard disclaimer for every game *

hyv3mynd's Eldar + Dark Eldar @ October RTT - Game #3 and Results

So... DaBoyz GT primer game #3. I'm at 64 battle points out of 66 possible at this point. I find myself paired against Paul for the final round, who is currently in second with 49 battle points. If you've followed the blog for a while, you've seen Paul's Grey Knights and Imperial Guard across from me on several occasions.

hyv3mynd's Eldar + Dark Eldar @ October RTT - Game #1

This month's local tournament at Millennium Games was the "DaBoyz GT Primer" and last normal tournament before the GT in November and then the championship invitational in December. I brought the same army list I've been playing without any changes. I really like the way it plays and due to the rapidly approaching GT, I didn't want to make any changes that would throw off my painting agenda.

After solid wins in game #1 and game #2, I find myself paired against Dave yet again. If you haven't been following my monthly tournaments, I also faced his IG in game #4 of the August event as well as game #3 of the July event. Over the past 2 months, I've been lucky in our games, but Dave really wants some revenge and the third time may be the charm!

I have a lot of game material from this month so I'm going to report two games at a time. Our monthly local tournament format this month was 1,000pts with no allies allowed and we played 4 rounds instead of 3. Tables were also 4'x4' instead of the standard size.
Here's the list I took:
- Spirit Seer (shriek, conceal)
- 5 Wraith Guards
- Wave Serpent w/Scatter Lasers, holofields
- 3 Jet Bikes w/Shuriken Cannon
- 3 Jet Bikes w/Shuriken Cannon
- 3 War Walkers with 2 Scatter Lasers each
- Wraith Knight w/ 2 Cannons
- 2 Vaul Support Cannons with Shadow Weaver

1500pt July Tournament - hyv3mynd's Game #3 and Results

The July tournament at Millennium Games was a 1500pt format with judged painting and player ranked sportsmanship & comp. The breakdown was 15/7/3 battle points for win/draw/loss with up to 15pts for painting and 15pts for sportsmanship/comp. The new Eldar codex (and wraithknight in particular) was calling to me so I put together this list. My goal was to use as many painted models as possible with no special characters or duplicates (cept 2 rhinos) to max my soft scores. Game #1 can be found here. Game #2 can be found here.
Farseer + spirit stone of anath'lan (game #3 warlord : -1 enemy reserves, prescience, guide, fortune)
Ordo Malleus Inquisitor + terminator armor, psycannon
Henchmen - acolytes x4 w/ melta x2, jokaero
Chimera + searchlight
Guardians x10 + bright lance platform (DE warriors proxy)
Rangers x5
Strike Squad x5 + psycannon, hammer
Rhino + searchlight
Strike Squad x5 + psycannon, halberds x2
Rhino + searchlight
War Walkers x3 + scatter lasers x6
Wraightknight (stock)
Nemesis Dreadknight + teleporter, hvy incinerator

May Tournament Recap

This month's local event was a 1999pt tournament with an allowance for one forgeworld unit as long as it wasn't superheavy, gargantuan, or a d-weapon. Scoring was battle + painting. One of the cool perks this month was the DaBoyz team from Adepticon brought in their Tau terrain to play on. More pics of their project can be found here.

Tournament Photodump and Results

I've been falling behind on battle reports and tournament results due to the amount of 40k content flooding into my life. Some of the authors have a big (4k per team, 2v2) game this weekend and our monthly tournament the week after so I've got to unload the content I've been sitting on or else I'll never catch up.

Batrep: GK & SM vs IG - Team Event

This was our (Crimthaan & hyv3mynd) second game of our local Adepticon team primer. Game #1 and our lists can be found here. After a major victory, we moved on to face a double guard team. The same team that Grubnards and Sinistermind battled last round. Their lists were approximately:

I played an 8000 point game this past weekend with a friend of mine and we decided the matchup was going to be my Word Bearers versus his Grey Knights. Since we were playing with a double force org chart we decided to limit special characters to 1 per player. I had the option of either running Abaddon or Ahriman but since this was a battle versus Grey Knights I thought it would be iconic to run Ahriman with some Thousand Sons. Plus, I've had the Ahriman model sitting in by "to-paint" pile for 5 plus years and I figured this was the perfect excuse to get him painted up. Paul decided to use Mordrak accompanied by his Ghost Knights. I typed up this report in a twofold manner, meaning that it is a turn-by-turn report with narrative elements, maps, and pictures added in to help you follow along with our game. I hope you enjoy reading the report as much as I had playing the game. Sunday, March 24, 2013

This report was our (Crimthaan & hyv3mynd) first game in the local Adepticon team primer. We had originally planned to bring double CSM, but my painting wasn't progressing quickly enough and I didn't want to handicap my partner with an unpainted army. Here's what we ended up with:

Batrep: Grey Knights vs Chaos Marines and Guard 1850pts
Posted by

I've been able to start sneaking in more games recently. Work's been keeping me out of the monthly tournaments so I haven't been working on any tournament builds, just fun stuff I've been wanting to try. This week, Chris from Buffalo (sinistermind) accepted my challenge and brought out a Typhus list. This was also exciting for me since I'm working on a Typhus list of my own.
