Grubnards GT Countdown T-2 Weeks

That's right...the Da Boyz GT is almost upon us and I'm getting pretty excited. This past week was pretty productive as far as working on terrain, my display board, and my army. I was also able to get in another game this past weekend that did not go well for me at all. Since list submissions are due within 6 days I've been busy making some changes to my list that I will cover below. So without any delay, lets looks at last weeks progress....

Display Board

I did not get as far was I wanted but part of that was due to the time it took for the clay to dry on the board. You can see that I created some tentacles out of clay that look like they are snaking their way up from the cracks beneath the summoning symbol.

To create the tentacles I simply rolled the clay out on a flat surface and shaped into the various patterns that you see. After about 10 minutes or so I took a pen  with a tapered point and pressed in the holes that you see along the length of the tentacles. After the clay hardened I sanded down the pieces to a smooth texture.

 Tyranid Terrain Pieces

Last week I showed the initial work I started on a multi-level piece of terrain that would fit into my tyranid terrain and would provide LoS blocking. Here are the final results...

Word Bearer Army Update

Last week I highlighted the parchment scrolls I added to my Dark Apostle. On Friday night I added more oaths and parchments to some of my foot troops. As of now I still need to paint the parchments and add text lines but at least you get to see how they turned out.

Here I added parchment oaths to about 20 word bearers

What I like about using the glue and paper bag is that when the glue dries it hold the shape of the paper so that it looks like they are fluttering in the wind.

Army List

As I stated above, I was able to get in another 1850pt game in over the weekend against Evan and his Grey Knights. Without mincing words I got creamed. Upon review I should have deployed elements of my army better but he had a hard lists that included 2 dreadknights. Since the GT limits all units to 0-2, except for troops, I realized that my current list isn't cut out for lists that include 2 Wraith Knights, 2 Riptides, or 2 dread knights without retaliating in kind by bringing 2 drakes or 2 squads of oblits. Part of the issue are the raptors and the chaos lord with wings. I simply love this unit and I always try to fit it into my list but let's be honest... they get shot to pieces as they jump across the board. So I decided to drop them and flesh out my list to include more shooty elements than can hopefully take on  the high toughness models. Here is my proposed revised list.

HQ
-----------
Dark Apostle: Black Mace, MoT = 165

Elites
-------------
4 Terminators: Champ with Chainfist/Combi-melta. Three terminators with Power Mauls and Combi-meltas = 158

Troops
-------------
8 Marines: Champ with Power Axe, Plasma Gun, VoLW = 152
Rhino = 35

8 Marines: Champ with Powerfist, Melta Gun, VoLW = 162
Rhino = 35

20 Cultists = 90

Fast Attack
---------------
Heldrake with Baleflamer = 170

Heavy Support
--------------
3 Obliteraors: MoN, VoLW = 237

7 Havocs: Champ, 2 Autocannons, 1 Missile Launcher = 136

7 Havocs: Champ, 2 Auto Cannons, 1 LasCannon = 141

Allied Detachment

HQ
-----------
Herald of Tzeentch: ML 2, Exalted Gift = 95

Troops
------------
10 Pink Horrors = 90

Heavy Support
------------
Soul Grinder: MoN, Phleghm Bombardment = 180

Total = 1846

This list still retains what I think works from my first list but you will see that I added another squad of havocs and some deepstriking termies to hopefully combi-melta stuff as they deepstrike in. Hopefully I will be able to get in a couple of games with this list over the next week and let you know how it works.

    1. I should be able to paint it this week. I am going to attempt a marble pattern for the floor. If i can pull it off it will look great. If not, i'll just go with a slate color for the flooring.
