June Tournament Projects - 1 Week Out

So I've been grinding away on my painting projects to fill in a new army build for two events in June.  Here's the Mordrak model with some additional detailing on the armor since last time.  I still need to finish the hammer arm and storm bolter.

Here's a group of four more ghost knights I batched out this week with the airbrush.  These guys are airbrushed only, I haven't gone in to do any highlights or details with a traditional brush yet.  I've been taking tons of pictures of the entire process and will write a very long and detailed airbrushing article for those who've been asking, but that will have to wait until after the tournament.

Here's a shot of the whole happy family nearly finished now.  The three ghost knights in front with Mordrak have been detailed and highlighted.

And finally, a new Nemesis Dreadknight will be joining the force.  For this guy, I airbrushed each armor plate from medium grey to dove grey, then wicker white.  It's hard to tell in the picture with the lighting and grey background, but the shading is pretty cool and looks more dramatic in person.  The frame was primed black then dry brushed gunmetal, silver, then a silver/white mix.  Still a lot of work to do on this guy, but I should be able to get the model finished.  The base will have to wait.

So there you have another week's progress.  If you haven't been following, all of the models in this article represent 3 weeks progress so far, including assembly.  It's been a pretty ambitious project and I probably bit off more than I can chew again, but I will get darn close to finishing the 1500pt force.  The week after the 1500pt tournament, there's a 1250pt lock-in so I'll have another week to finish those models.

After the June events, I'm going to take a break from painting models and make some new terrain and work on two new theme tables I've been planning.  I plan on using terrain building to "detox" myself from 5th edition and go into 6th edition with a mind that hasn't been occupied with tactics and mathammer.  As for blog content, next will be a article about my army lists for the upcoming events, one practice game, 6 tournament battle reports, then an airbrushing tutorial.  Maybe by the time all that content is done, we can start talking about 6th edition and Tyranids again.

  2. Looking great - and inspiring to me to get Violette to sleep early so I can do some painting. I am really curious what you are going to bring to the 1500 event this Saturday.

  3. Thanks guys.

Here's the list I'm using. I'll make a proper article about it tonight or tomorrow.

    Mordrak
    Ghost Knights x5 + hammer x1, halberd x1, banner, swords x2
Strikes x5 + psycannon, razorback + psybolt ammo
    Strikes x5 + psycannon
Interceptors x5 + MC hammer, halberds x2, psycannon
    Stormraven + typhoon missiles
    Nemesis Dreadknight + teleporter
    Nemesis Dreadknight + teleporter

It's a little light on bodies, gimmicky, and plays rock/paper/scissors. The speed and shock value will be fun tho.
