Parkhammer 2013 @ Watkins Glen State Park, June 29th

For those that can make it down to Watkins Glen at the end of June, The Grand Strategery is hosting Parkhammer 2013! What is Parkhammer? It’s a family friendly, laid back gathering of gamers in the Upstate NY region. We’ll have tables set up for gaming, grills going all day for food, and other activities. In addition to what we have planned, the park offers multiple playgrounds for kids, a couple of pools for swimming, and trails for hiking.

Hyv3mynd at last year's Parkhammer event
The way I see it, we have an extensive network of gamer friends that we only get to see at competitive events like tournaments and GTs. Why not have a relaxed day at the park, get a few games in, and eat some good food? On top of that, you get to bring the family with you. Everyone wins.

If you’re interested in coming, shoot me an RSVP at kommandochrisp@gmail.com. For more specifics, and to see what events we have scheduled throughout the day, check below the fold.

Events:

The guys from Beef & Wing (A club from Buffalo) are sponsoring a Chili Contest. If you have a great recipe, bring it down. So far we have 4-5 entrant, and I’m working on a trophy for the top prize.

Pick up this model from your FLGS, convert
it if you'd like, paint it, and bring it to Parkhammer
One model to rule them all! We thought it would be a cool project for everyone to convert and paint the same mini. It’d be interesting to see the variety of techniques and paint styles everyone brings to the table. By getting the word out now you’ll have around a month and half to get the mini, convert it, and paint it up. Bring it along with you to Parkhammer, and I’ll take pictures of everyone’s efforts. We’ll even have a vote for our favorite and maybe a small prize. The chosen mini is:

A hike through the Gorge (bring a few bucks for ice cream at the top)

So, you're interesting in coming. Here's what you need to do:
Entrance to the event is simple: Send me an RSVP, & bring a dish or two to pass around (remember, we'll be going all day, so plan accordingly). Entrance to the park is $8/car, or free if you have an Empire pass. We'll have a couple grills available, and alcohol is BYOB.

If you're coming from a ways away and don't want to lug around a car full of supplies, there's a supermarket just down the road too.

If you're looking to spend the night in the area, there are a number of local hotels, and bed&breakfasts (I live next to 2). There is also camping at the park itself.

Feel free to comment here if you have any questions, or start a thread in our forums (thegrandstrategery.proboards.com).

Thanks for reading.
