I'm beginning to feel my lists are becoming unbalanced towards assault again. It creeps up on me until I'm looking at some other blogs and realize I'd be unprepared to handle a list that sports 12 armored vehicles. I guess it's mostly because I rarely play anyone who brings more than 6 vehicles. Anyways, I built this list with a core from my last list and some assaulty units swapped out for more shooting.
Hive Tyrant + armored shell, old adversary, regeneration, heavy venom cannon
Tyrant Guard + lash whips
Hive Guard x2
Hive Guard x2
Venomthropes x2
Termagants x10
Termagants x10
Tervigon + toxin sacs, adrenal glands, catalyst, onslaught
Tervigon + toxin sacs, adrenal glands, catalyst
Genestealers x20 + toxin sacs
Carnifex + heavy venom cannon
Carnifex + heavy venom cannon
So the theory of it is the whole mass advances together with as much in the spore cloud and old adversary bubbles as possible. The hope here is that the combined impaler cannons and heavy venom cannons can provide more suppression fire. Gaunts are spawned into the buff bubbles for counterassault/tarpit duties. Genestealers provide disruption or lead the main force as they cross the table.
Anyways... I should be able to get 3 games in this week with this list so batreps will be coming.
Have you found armored shell to be worth it when you also have Tyrant Guard?
ReplyDeleteYup, it means the first missile wound to get through always goes on the Tyrant to get saved on 2+ instead of 4+ cover granted by the guards.
ReplyDeleteThe Tyrant also has regen and leech essence so giving him wounds early increases the chances of getting them back. The unit is realy capable of pulling off some amazing things.
It really stinks that Venomthropes are in the same slot as Hive Guard. I just love them though for what they do :) I really like them in the list.
ReplyDeleteYay for Batreps! I'll be looking forward to them!
Yeah, Armored Shell keeps those krak missiles bouncing off the Tyrant. It's annoying.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a huge fan of HVC myself, but I realize finding 150 points for T-fexes is too much. What about Devourers? Messes up light armor, but can be risky with faster vehicles and leaves you vulnerable to AV14.
Yeah not a huge fan of HVC myself, but they give me something devourers don't. Shooting at 36". After my game last night, I actually like them better. More for suppression than popping vehicles as the -1dmg modifier sucks. However, given the size of vehicles, they actually hit more than I anticipated after scatters.
ReplyDeleteI had 2 fexs with devourers in my GT list which was tons of fun but still didn't help when I needed it most - against av14 and mech spam.
