On Our Painting Table - March 29th

Here's a hobby update on what we've been working on in the time between writing and gaming.  I've been steadily plugging away at my CSM.  Above is my Scibor Rotten Lord that I'm using for Typhus.  Pay no mind to the missing portion of the weapon's shaft, it fell off right before photographing.

This model isn't finished yet, but I've been pleased with the progress.  I airbrushed the green areas and then masked them off with blue-tac.  Then I airbrushed the white armor plates.   After that, I hand painted the trim and rotten patches.  Next, the model was covered in gloss varnish and given brown and purple oil washes.

I still need to finish the base, weapon, and weather the armor.  The photo doesn't properly capture the colors due to a terrible mix of yellow and white fluorescent bulbs, but you'll see it on the table in battle reports before long.

Next up are some models from Calypso2ts.

Bloodcrushers painted to the color Palette of my army - Black, Purple, Pink with gold trim using NMM built up from Calthan brown.

CSM from the Dark Vengeance set - naturally not as good as Grubnards but these are Slaanesh marked CSM - or maybe Noise Marines.  Also consistent with the palette of my Daemons.

The Blue is Enchanted/Hawk Turqoise/Ice Blue.  The purple Genestealer/Xerus/Emperor's Children.  A few pops of green on them provide some contrast and the whole is framed by Abaddon black with a drybrsh of Space Wolves Grey.  Basing will be on a stage - for Slaanesh it is all a grand performance - that I have been making using birch drink stirrers, wood glue and a dremmel sanding barrel.

And finally some shots from Grubnard's CSM in progress.

Here are the latest additions to my Word Bearer host. This past week left little time for painting but I was able to paint on the flaming daemon head onto the shoulder pads of the newest models. I also finished up painting the slate rock to match the rest of my army.

Here is a close up of the icon.

Here is a shot of the terrain project I am currently working on for my next terrain article. Check back in two weeks to see how it turns out.
That's all for now.  Stay tuned for more Codex: Daemon reviews next week along with battle reports and hobby progress towards our April event.

  1. Oy, that scibor model is looking nice. Can't wait to see the end result.

  2. I need to get some better pictures up to replace those - or maybe I need someone to write a good photo taking guide. The painting and beautiful photos from Hyv3 and Grub really put me to shame.
