That's right, the 3rd Annual ParkHammer kicks off this weekend at Watkins Glen State Park. This event was started three years ago by our good friend Chris (aka Crispy) as a way for all of us in the Western NY region to get together for a day of cooking out, hiking the gorge, and of course, gaming.
Our first year was held in an outdoor area and we were lucky that it did not rain that day. We had about a dozen or so people show up and it was a nice, relaxed day with our family and friends. Last year we reserved a pavilion and kicked things up a notch by holding a chili cook-off contest, a painting contest, and of course, our wizard staff competition in which Mike Nogle walked away as the Grand Wizard. Our attendance almost tripled that of the first year as more people and their families attended. There was a ton of great food, beer, and games.
This year we are holding a Mac and Cheese cook off, another painting competition, gaming and beer. I am looking forward to seeing all of my friends and club members, some whom I have not seen in a few months due to work and family. I plan on playing a lot of x-wing and zombicide this weekend plus eating and drinking vast amounts of food and beer.
