synaps3  has been getting a lot of love recently.  I have to extend heartfelt thanks to my followers and readers.  You guys make all the time and effort worth while.  The blog has been receiving a lot of additional traffic thanks to some referrals in the blogosphere and interwebs.  I thought I'd share just a few of the highlights of my inbox from the past couple weeks...

From Best Overall, Purgatus's (Yes, the Truth Hurts contributor) blog:
"This guy's mission statement basically reads like my New Year's Resolution. He's got some great material here on playing Tyranids competitively and I highly recommend giving him a read.

I also really like his Nids conversions and paint-schemes.

Anyways, here's the link, and he's also been added to my blogroll

From Aux (Auxelli0n) on The Tyranid Hive:
"Big fan. Uploaded a video to try and get your blog some more traffic"

Email from Ian:
"Hi, I'm Ian and I'm from the Philippines and has been a tyranid player for 3
years now... I just read your blog recently and learned a lot of great things on
how you conceptualize your list, analyze the situation, and the do's and don'ts
on playing nids. Well I dont rely much on what the internet says that's why I'm
looking for some good read, and that is when I stumbled upon your blog.

Luckily for us here, we do have tons of terrain, with mixture of blocking
line-of-sight terrains. We do have an upcoming 2 month 7-game "Gladiator"
tournament, which is held annually, but unfortunately, i already submitted my
list to the TO so I wasn't able to apply your suggestion in list building but
I'll try the other tactics that you have written on your blog .

Anyways, congratulations on your upcoming wedding and thank you for a wonderful
and helpful blog....

Cheers

PS:
Here's the newly launched blogsite of our LGC:
www.galleriabasterds.blogspot.com. I added your blogsite to our trusted
links...."

From darkling5687 on The Tyranid Hive:
"Hey man just wanted to tell you that you got some great stuff on your blog. I recently discovered it cause aux talked about it on one of his youtube vids. Your article about competitive nids is great, a lot of conclusions or ideas I've come to as well, but its great to see anothers insight definitely helped spark my nid spirit again. Your article about terrain at the larger tournaments is also very good, and i definitely would demand my money back if most or all of the tables were basically flat.

Also i was at the da boyz gt, i had the red and blue nids, brown display and bases. I actually played the same daemon player u did round 2 in round 3. I played a comp list and ended up 21st overall if i counted down correctly, huge improvement from the previous year.

Any ways great blog ill definitely be checking it out regularly, sorry to rant there."

Those are just a few of the kind words and mentions I've received.  synaps3 is also discussed in Greece and Russia.  Thanks again to everyone who's taken the time to read, comment, and pass on the word for me.

The next step for synaps3 also involves my follows, readers, and fans.  I want the blog to be more about the army than just my take on it and execution of it.  I extend this invitation to any of you who are as passionate about tyranids as I am:

Send me your batreps, conversion tutorials, paint schemes, tactica, and anything else we can discuss and share to improve the tyranid community.  Even if your bareps are losses, we can go over them and attempt to improve future results.  Not everyone who reads plays nids themselves.  If you're a space wolf or guard player that loves pounding bugs into the dirt, send me "vs nids" batreps so we can gain new insights on our own strength and weaknesses.

As always, I'm also open to email requests.  I won't be getting any games in until the second week in March, after the honeymoon, but I want to hit the ground running when I get back.  Hopefully I'll be able to recover all the free time from my daily routine that's going to wedding planning and preparation now.  My 40k schedule for the rest of the year will be pretty ambitious, including 4-5 RTT's locally, the American Team Championship in May, 'Ard Boyz this summer, NOVA Open in August, hopefully Warmaster's Challenge in the fall, DaBoyz GT in October, and hopefully the Millennium Invitational if I place at the RTT's.

That should make for some good content for the rest of the year along with input from all of you!

  1. Heyo - glad to see the word spreading... Blogged about the site as well: http://midlifegamingcrisis.blogspot.com/2011/02/tyranid-library-dusty-books-on-back.html
My journey is a bit different than yours, but the goal is ultimately the same: play 'nids competitively. Keep up the great work!

  2. I am happy to share my battle reports and see them get a wider readership; although like you I do not think I will be getting in any games before March.

  3. Dude, you need to go to BoLScon, it's like 3 hours from my new crib :D

Hopefully I can make it to NOVA and DaBoyz too.

Glad to hear things are going well for ya.

  4. You really do a great job. In russian community we have our own view on tyranids. As I started to read your blog with some other's I've found a competitive executions of units and combos that I never saw at our tournaments. As I haven't much experience yet, I'm more a reader:) But I wanna try to do the same job in russian language on my blog. I think that some materials I can translate for your one. For example, color schemes/conversions of my own and some idea's on competetive tyranid tactics from our community. I'll try to keep in touch:)

  5. The new goblin spider thing would be a good tervigon conversion, especialy with the lumpy fleshy underside... would it?

  6. @Zachary. I agree the spiders abdomen looks like it would work great stuck on a fex.

  7. You actually helped me from almost quitting Nids because I couldn't figure them out and was frustrated with always losing. Your very appreciated and a couple of my friends read your blog now for the bat reps because even though they don't play Nids they are always very insightful!

Keep it up man! I'm now a much better Nid player and people fear my army at my FLGS because of it! >:]
