Team Tourney Concepts

So Millennium is running a team tourney in January to act as a test run for the local adepticon teams.  2 person format instead of 4 man teams, similar force org.  My buddy Timbo is going to bring DE as my partner, most likely with a shooty list that I can complement with an assaulty build.

Here are some of my 1,000pt concepts.  Feedback is encouraged.

List #1:
Tervigon (hq) + poison, fc, catalyst
20 genestealers + broodlord
20 genestealers + broodlord
3 hive guard

40 genestealers infiltrate and provide pressure, blocking, assault.  Terv hands out FnP and provide more scoring units and synapse to hive guard (Tim is primarily anti-armor).

List #2
tyranid prime - whip/sword
3 hive guard
20 genestealers
20 genestealers

19 hormagaunts + poison, fc
Same deal as above with genestealers.  Prime joins hive guard to provide lower profile synapse.  More assaulty through hormagaunts but no FnP or spawned units.

List #3
Parasite of Mortrex
22 gargloyes poison + FC
20 genestealers
20 genestealers
2 hive guard
Same genestealer goodness.  PoM joins gargoyles and makes for another fast assaulty unit.  PoM can spawn rippers to contest objectives.

List #4
Parasite of Mortrex
16 gargloyes + poison, fc
20 genestealers
20 genestealers
7 ymgarl genestealers
As above but trade out hive guard for ymgarls to threaten backfield threats like long fangs.  Every unit here has rending when the PoM joins gargoyles.  All CC oriented.

List #5
Tervigon (hq)
Tervigon (troops)
30 Termagants
2 Venomthropes
(+350pts in assault units, be it genestealers or carnifex)

More bandwagon tervigon goodness with lots of FnP and cover.  Good survivability here.

List #6
Hive Tyrant  + 2+ armor, preferred enemy, paroxysm, leech essence
3 Tyrant Guard + lash whips
40 genestealers
So a beefy CC deathstar with genestealer pressure units.

List #7
Hive Tyrant  + 2+ armor, preferred enemy, paroxysm, leech essence
3 Tyrant Guard + lash whips
20 genestealers

Tervigon + poison, fc, catalyst
Termagants
Tyranid synergy at it's best.  Tyrant gives genestealers and super gaunts preferred enemy.  FnP goes on stealers or deathstar.

So which one do y'all think will play best with a mech/shooty DE list?

  1. So the list I'm bringing will probably be something like this:

Haemonculus - liquifier gun, venom blade
    Haemonculus - hexrifle, venom blade
    5 Trueborn - 4 blasters
    Venom - 2 splinter cannons
    10 Warriors - Dark Lance
    Raider - flickerfield
    10 Warriors - Dark Lance
    Raider - flickerfield
    10 Warriors - Dark Lance
    Raider - flickerfield
Ravager - 3 Dark Lances, flickerfield, night shield

I had a few point floating at the end, so I gave the Haemonculi venom blades and threw in an extra Trueborn for an ablative wound.

  2. Sweet Tim. I'm lovin it. What are your thoughts on night shields instead of the extra trueborn and venom blades? Also, don't you want 4 trueborn max so one haemi can ride along?

Here's what I came up with for my part:

    Parasite of Mortrex (HQ)
    16x genestealers + broodlord (troop)
    15x genestealers + broodlord (troop)
    7 ymgarl genestealers (elite)
19 gargoyles + poison, furious charge (fast attack)

Based on the list you liked most, but with a few less genestealers so we can start testing before I commit to buying another box. Broodlords also put me up to three 3 wound CC beasts all sunk into units of ablative wounds. Each also has rending, high str, and init.

I need to assemble 4 more stealers then we can start testing. May wanna throw out a challenge on the forum also.

  3. Haha whoops, you're right about the 4 Trueborn. Dropping the extra equipment would let me get 2 Night Shields, leaving one Raider bare. But that's not a big problem. I'll just have to slap some bits on there to differentiate them.

I like your list. It'll be in their face almost immediately, but should have some staying power. And broodlords pack some whallop.

I should be getting my Vyper in the mail today, and it will become a Venom in short order. So I'll be open to testing any time after that (most likely Wednesday).
