From Erle:
My name is Erle, I'm a newbie 40k tyranid player from Belarus. I read
your blog with a great pleasure. I haven't participated in any sort of
tournaments yet, but, at last, my growing hive fleet Hyenna is going
to take part in a team
tournament. So I wonder if you can help me thinking on my list and
strategy:)

Last Man Standing, Game #3
***We played this game from 1-3am, so I apologize for the poor pictures. I wasn't taking as many pictures and I wasn't very steady after all the caffeine***
Game #3 pairings were based on total battlepoints. I ended up with Smitty (again), Reece (again), and Jay. Despite winning both of my previous games, this is actually table #2. People on other tables are raking in 30-50pts and I just can't keep up.

Last Man Standing, Game #2
For game 2 of this event, the top players from each of the four tables during round 1 were put together on this table. I was facing two other nid armies and space wolves and some of the best players in our area.
Chris C: 2 primes + poison/boneswords, 2x 19 genestealers, 2x 30 hormagaunts + poison, venomthrope
Ben: 3 tervigons (2 HQ, 1 troop), 10 gants, 2 trygons, mawloc
Reece: 2 rune priests, 4x grey hunters (fully decked out with frost, power, wulfen, standard, guard), 4x rhinos, lone wolf

Last Man Standing, Game #1
The following is (sorta) a batrep from the "Last Man Standing" event at Millennium Games. I say sorta because the format was 4 players per table in a free-for-all brawl over killpoints and a single objective.
The list I took was (1250pts):
Tyrant + scytals x2, old adversary, armored shell, regen, implant attack, toxins, paroxysm, leech
Tyrant Guard x3 + lash whips
Tyranid Prime + boneswords, regen
Hive Guard x2
Genestealers x20
Rippers x3
Tyrannofex + rupture cannon, cluster spines, desiccator swarm

Splinter Fleet Colossus Marches to War!
Tomorrow night is the Last Man Standing lock-in event at Millennium Games here in Rochester. It will also be my first game(s) in over a month, and with 4 players per table (free for all), should be very interesting...

Strictly Awesome
Brent from Strictly Average and Bell of Lost Souls honored me with an email today:
Hiya man, this is Brent from Strictly Average.
I got turned on to your blog after your Carnifex attacked me at Da Boyz last year... and it's possible it implanted me (in the butt, dirty bug...) because I haven't been able to stop thinking about Tyranids!
I'm joining the Bio-Train! I decided to shoot you an email since you're probably the most obvious Bug player in my blog roll. Plus, you're a tournament player, so what works for regular games doesn't always jive with competitive play.
I'd like to ask if you'll review the army list I came up with. Already some great players have chimed in, but I'd really appreciate your take on it.
Feel free to answer in a blog post... 'cause that's what I'd do!

Thanks in advance - Brent

Hobby: Tyrannofex Painted
This guy has been my only hobby project since getting back from the honeymoon. I was sick of looking at his ugly self in my batreps so I decided to grind it out. It probably took 15 hours to paint more or less but I paint slow and watch tv. I'm not doing the base until I have several other models ready so I can base them all at the same time. Hope you like it!

1250pt Last Man Standing
The local shop is running their 40k lock-in event next week and I'm looking for some reader advice and thoughts. Here's the format:
We will be running a a modified "Last Man Standing" event. Tables will be much larger with groups of 4 to 6 players trying to win their respective tables. Losing teams will be knocked down to different tables to try to fight for the right be resurrected back to the final table.
Player's will get points for killing HQ's and having their own troops survive each table.
There will be a series of games played throughout the night and into the early morning.
Prize categories will be paid out for
Top 2 players
Best painted HQ
Head Hunter “most HQ’s killed”
Best Painted Army
Best Opponent
Best Army List
Best Table
If you can bring a table of terrain you will be entered into the best table contest as well.
-Armies will be no more than 1250 pts, following standard force org. rules.
-Games will be played on a table that is formed by a 4' x 4' table, with an extra 1' x 4' space added to each edge. (Think red cross symbol)
-4 players will play on each table at a time, rounds will be 5 turns long.
-Before each turn, order of play will be randomly decided by drawing cards for playing first, second, etc.
Scoring:
Kill Points:
-In order to gain points for killing enemy units, the unit must be destroyed entirely. This means that only the player to kill the last model of an enemy unit will be rewarded the points, regardless of whoever else may have done damage to the unit.
-Units that fall back and are removed from play by running off of the board edge WILL NOT REWARD POINTS.
-Points for killing a unit are awarded as follows: Units killed that belong to either played to the side of you will be worth 2 kill points. Units from the player on the opposite side of the table from you will be worth 3 kill points.
-In addition, players should keep track of how many enemy HQs they kill over the course of all of their games (for head hunters prize at the end of the night).
Last Man Standing:
-Players will be rewarded a point for each unit they have surviving at the end of each game.
King of the Hill:
-Each table will have an objective in the center of the board. This objective can be claimed or contested by ANY unit, EXCEPT for dedicated transports that are not transporting a unit.
-The objective will be worth 4 points.
-Points for this objective will be scored on EVERY player turn, starting on turn 2.
Deployment:
-Each player will deploy in one of the 1'x 4' 'tabs', staying at least 6" away from each side edge.
-Players MUST deploy AT LEAST 700 points worth of their army BEFORE the start of turn 1. Players using Codex: Daemons are exempt to this rule.
-Outflanking units will be deployed as follows: On a roll of 5-6, the unit enters play from an edge touching any inside corner of the board they choose. On a roll of 1-4, the unit will enter play from a board edge touching one of the corresponding inside corners, declared before rolling.

Back in Action!
I don't usually do off topic posts, but this one deserves it. We just returned from our 10 day destination wedding and honeymoon trip to beautiful St. Lucia. It was an amazing trip and I'm a very lucky man to have found my wife and soulmate. Here are just a couple pictures of our ceremony and resort.
